Dear Families,
Thank you to everyone who came along to school this week to meet with your teachers to discuss your child's learning progress. We are delighted that so many families have taken this opportunity. There has been some very positive feedback about learning conversations this week and we have enjoyed having families in to view their child's classroom.
If you have not yet had the chance to come in to discuss your child's learning and mid year report, please contact the School Office and will organise a mutally convenient time for you and your child's teacher to meet.
Next week our Year 3 - 5 students begin their Swimming and Water Safety sessions at the Clarence Pool. This is also available to Year 6 students who have been identified to have further lessons from their swimming assessment last year. Please see further information in today's newsletter.
A huge thank you to Charlotte, Georgia, Charli and Katelyn who last week accompanied Rebecca White MP on a tour of our school. As Student Councillors, these students showed their confidence and communication skills while hosting this visit.

5/6 Assembly
It was fantastic to see so much student work shared with our school community during our assembly.
Laura and Savannah from 5/6 GL led us with our Acknowledgment of Country.
Our Marimba music group shared a very special music item with us that highlighted the amazing progress that our students are making with their performance skills under the guidance of Mrs Pape.
5/6 Lack shared their narrative writing pieces with examples of how we “show, don’t tell” techniques.
5/6 Hedington shared their memories of the year so far and every member of the class had a special role to play. It was lovely to reflect on the many opportunities that our students are presented with at Brighton. The students have definitely been very busy!
5/6 Iyer shared their work on figurative language that they have been working hard on this term. Mrs Iyer produced a super slide show that emphasised the development of new skills and understandings in writing to engage the reader.
Our Cross Country students were also recognised by Mr Daft and Ms Plunkett-Smith for their participation at recent carnivals where Brighton achieved very good results. Mr Daft also acknowledged the role of our House Captains at Brighton and these leaders received their new badges.
Our Golden Ticket Barrel winners for this Assembly were:
Ruby and Ruby-Lee from 5/6 Iyer
Josh from 5/6 Martyn
Kyelan from 5/6 Henderson

Future Seekers Exploring 21st Century Careers
On Wednesday, our Grade five students participated in a workshop run by guest speakers about the world of work. Our students were able to hear from a range of different people about their jobs and to ask questions. The aim of the program, run by The Smith Family, is to increase our students’ awareness of the world of work and to broaden their horizons about future career possibilities.

We are pleased to announce Xavier and Noah Clarke will be coaching basketball in the gym on Tuesday’s, between 4.00pm and 5.00pm. All grade 3 – 6 students are welcome to attend.
